Thanks, but No Thanks

A compliment about my physical appearance isn’t as flattering when a fellow Asian person gives them.

Why is that? It’s so much more appreciated when the person giving the compliment is Caucasian or any other ethnicity than Asian.

I guess because growing up, no one really thought of Asians to be attractive. It was only recently that I found out that non Asians were attracted to Asians. Mostly being men of course.

Being complimented by a non Asian female is probably the best feeling in the world.

Every Asian girl thinks her friends are cute/pretty. So when other Asian girls give me a compliment, it doesn’t feel genuine. I feel like they just say it to say it or to befriend me.

Us Asian girls are all similar, there are the pretty, cute and not so cute ones. Their opinion doesn’t really matter because we come from the same place, Asia. It’s like your family member complimenting you. It cancels out cause they’re family. Whereas when a stranger from a different background tells you, it means that much more!

There is usually a “look” that constitutes beauty and for one person to be beautiful to everyone, that actually means something.

One person can be attractive to another but also have the ability to look hideous to a different person.

We all have our own “type” of look that we’re attracted to. But there are those who are universally beautiful, like: Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Angelina Jolie!
